Britt’s Google+ Experiment

Something's brewing at TargetClick! As I sit at my desk looking like I'm up to no good, I'm really planning for Google domination. I can't hide the fact that I'm so super excited about Google+ and the changes it's already made for SEO, but also the opportunities this platform will bring. I'll let you in on a little secret. I'm testing a new theory about the importance of link building using Google+ and how it will affect rankings and link building as we know it. What I want to know is if linking directly to a Google+ profile, then linking back to a page will have a greater affect on rankings than directly linking from an external source. So instead of sending link juice directly to a page, what happens if we sent it from the external source to the Google+ profile, which would then link to that page from the profile? The idea is that this action would be two-fold. First, by linking to the Google+ profile, this would help establish authority for the profile that is associated with the domain (necessary for Google's new inclusion of Authorship). Then, links to the profile would then get super charged with authorship and strengthen link juice to the subject page. It may help to think of this in terms of Mario Kart. For instance, think of the start line as the external source, your racer as the link and the finish line as your subject page. Lets say that your racer encounters that glorious turbo boost strip, only the turbo boost strips not only makes your car super fast, it boosts the overall performance of your racer. For control purposes, we've made similar Google+ profiles and pages with equal authorship and on site factors. Please do me a favor, and resist from clicking on the following links (and if you do, please click all of them an equal number of times). So here goes!
