Key Management Promotions at Mudd Advertising

Cedar Falls, Iowa – January 6, 2021 – Mudd Advertising has selected Phil Sura as its President, effective September 6, 2020. Sura brings thirty years of digital advertising and automotive consulting experience to Mudd Advertising. Sura has a strong background as a national speaker and writer focused on digital advertising. Sura has worked closely with Google, Facebook and Amazon teams, introducing new digital initiatives to automotive dealers.  Sura earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Wyoming. 

Mandy Westendorf has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, effective September 1, 2020. Westendorf joined Mudd in 2004 as the Director of Accounting. Prior to Mudd Advertising, Westendorf was the Accounting Supervisor for Capital Card Services for 3 years. Westendorf earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA from Upper Iowa University. 

Patrick Dice has been promoted to Agency Director, effective December 1, 2020. Dice joined Mudd in 2008 as a Territory Manager. Dice was promoted to Regional Manager in 2010 and Brand Manager in 2015. Dice joined Mudd Advertising after graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Marketing.  As a Territory Manager, Dice developed relationships with customers and potential customers. As a Regional Manager and Brand Manager, he worked with a team of Territory Managers helping to guide their efforts executing on effective advertising campaigns as well as serving as an Account Executive on key accounts.

Dice’s promotion is tied to a new sales organizational structure, directed by Chris Mudd. This new alignment allows Mudd Advertising to provide stronger engagement with Mudd’s customer base. In additional to Dice, Mudd Advertising has three leaders managing the sales teams: Tim Brenden, Joe Edwards and Vern Kalkbrenner.

Molly Schmehl will be promoted to Chief Financial Officer on April 1, 2021. Schmehl is replacing Frank Seng, who has retired after 15 years of service to Mudd Advertising. Schmehl joined Mudd Advertising March 2011 as a Senior Accountant. Schmehl was promoted to Director of Accounting August 2020. Prior to Mudd Advertising, Schmehl spent 2 years with Deloitte as a Senior Tax Associate and 3 years as a Senior Auditor with RSM. Schmehl earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Iowa. Schmehl also has a CPA.
