Jim Mudd Sr. started Mudd Advertising in 1981 in the basement of his home in Cedar Falls, Iowa. From these humble beginnings we have grown into a prosperous advertising and direct marketing agency that is renowned for exceptional quality and a winning results driven mentality. Today, Mudd Advertising is the largest privately owned and operated automotive advertising agency in America, working with over 3,000 dealers in every state in the country.
The Mudd team
We employ over 170 team members, with employees in sales, client services, creative production, media, art, television and radio production, database marketing, public relations, Internet, administrative, and management capacities.
Jim's wife and six children are all involved in the company. Together, they have over 80 years of automotive-specific marketing experience.
The digs
The corporate headquarters for Mudd Advertising is located in Cedar Falls, Iowa – where we house a first class video and audio production studio and are located next to a blazing fast data center. A regional office is now up and running in the heart of downtown Chicago, at 211 West Wacker Drive and is home to our Mudd Academics and Mudd 360 divisions. We also have satellite sales offices in Detroit and Nashville.

Jim Sr. serves as founder and chief spiritual officer of Mudd Advertising, and is based at the company's corporate headquarters in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Jim serves as chairman of the board and is responsible for consulting on the vision of the company and guiding future plans for success. As chief spiritual officer, Jim is committed to the personal and professional development of each associate employed at Mudd Advertising.

Jim has provided successful advertising to more than 1,000 dealerships nationwide for the past 20 years, the end result being he has an intuitive understanding of the challenges car dealers face that is second to none. His experience working in every department of the company has provided him with the first-hand knowledge and leadership skills needed to oversee the entire business on a day-to-day basis.
Chris Mudd
President – Direct Marketing
Chris leads his sales and service teams with the overriding goal of anticipating clients' needs and exceeding their expectations. Frequent travel and a hands-on style attest to his savvy knowledge of his clients' needs. "As an agency, we strive to provide innovative solutions," says Chris Mudd. His tenure has paid off with a 100 percent growth rate of the company's direct mail division.
Rob Mudd
President – Hypercasting
Rob works out of our Chicago office and serves as president of Mudd 360 – Mudd Advertising's forward thinking business development division that pushes our business forward into new and exciting markets. His in-depth understanding of the retail automotive industry, coupled with his passion and drive to innovate, has produced a stunning suite of technology-driven marketing solutions that include Hypercasting and Mudd AdTracks. His unique ability to craft strategic alliances with partners as diverse as NBC, Comcast, Vehix, and the BBB have expanded Mudd Advertising initiatives to broad new markets. Rob has worked at Mudd Advertising since 1991 in direct mail sales, account management, sales management, and agency management.
